One month until Volvo National Sailing & Boating Day
With just one month until the 2014 Volvo National
Sailing & Boating Day, Clubs around New Zealand are gearing
up for a big day on the water and to welcome the public
through the Club doors.
The one-day celebration of sailing and boating is a Yachting New Zealand led initiative and already more than forty of New Zealand’s waterfront Clubs have signed up to take part in some way. The event is expected to see hundreds of people taking part in the sport at open days, have a go sessions and fun events for all the family.
With Clubs determining what they will offer on the day a wide range of opportunities and spectacles will be happening right around the nation from public open days, a chance to try sailing, yachts and boats on display, plus regional, national and even international regattas providing an experience for anyone who wants to show up.
Yachting New Zealand Chief Executive, David Abercrombie said; “All kiwis love getting out on the water, but not everyone knows how to get started in sailing. Volvo National Sailing & Boating Day is an opportunity for Clubs to give those people a taste of our sport in a fun and welcoming environment”.
Volvo globally supports sailing from grass roots level, through youth development and to the pinnacle of the sport with the ownership of the Volvo Ocean Race. For Volvo New Zealand, this Yachting New Zealand initiative is another to help grow sailing communities which are already reached by programmes such as YNZ’s Volvo Sailing...Have a Go!
