Applicants sought for Winter Festival Official Charities
Queenstown, New Zealand (6 March 2014) - The American Express Queenstown Winter Festival is looking for local charities and community groups to take advantage of the various fundraising opportunities that exist as part of this year’s 40th anniversary American Express Queenstown Winter Festival (20-29 June 2014).
Each year the Winter Festival offers a range of opportunities for local not-for-profit groups to fundraise. In addition the Winter Festival is also looking for expressions of interest from performers and those interested in running food stalls.
Applicants, or those looking for more information, should visit www.winterfestival.co.nz and apply under ‘Get involved.’ Applications close on Monday 17th March.
Festival Manager, Lisa Buckingham, said official Winter Festival charities can reap significant rewards from their involvement and each year a range of opportunities and partnerships had helped raise considerable funding for local community groups and charitable organisations.
“The American Express Queenstown Winter Festival is all about community involvement and this is a great chance to get involved in a variety of ways. It gives great promotional exposure, is a networking opportunity and of course there are the financial benefits as well,” says Ms Buckingham.
Applicants for official Winter Festival charities will need to meet certain selection criteria and be within one of the following donation distribution groups:
• Community, culture or arts
• Education (including pre-school, kindergartens, playgroups, Kohanga Reo)
• Fire brigade, ambulance, life saving
• Health and health-related purposes
• Youth
• Sport, recreation, leisure
Ms Buckingham said that the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival sub-committee made up of representatives from the Destination Queenstown Board would consider each applicant carefully before making a fair decision.
