Energizer gives
10 New Zealanders helping hand to spread Positive
Energy
JULY 1 2015, NEW ZEALAND –
Hard work and dedication to creating small changes with big impact has today paid off for ten Kiwis thanks to Energizer New Zealand.
The top entries into Energizer’s Power of Positive Energy project have been handpicked and each one rewarded with a $5,000 grant to help them spread their positive energy further.
The competition, launched in May, sought to find New Zealanders with a passion for innovation, waste minimisation or community improvement and give them a helping hand to being, continue, or expand their initiative.
The recipients of the $5,000 grants
are:
Innovation
• Adam Hutchinson, GeoZone, Canterbury
• Cate and Rewi Grace, Lou McLeod and Lilly Down, LEAP Fitness, Canterbury
• Rui Peng and Andy Crowe, Roskill South Makers, Auckland
Waste Minimisation
• Louise Allnutt, Foster Hope, Auckland
• Tracy Wellington, Kiwi Community Assistance, Wellington
Community Improvement
• Yvonne Judge, Scavengers, Northland
• Andy Galbraith, The Clothing Project Documentary, Bay of Plenty
• Keri Elvin, Performing Arts Collective, Taranaki
• Lydia Clark, Lighting for New Brighton Skate Park, Canterbury
• Jasmine Maclean, Humans of South Auckland, Auckland
Energizer is doing its own part to make small changes with big impact, earlier this year launching the world’s first battery made from recycled battery content – something that experts had previously deemed impossible.
The resulting Energizer EcoAdvanced battery is made with 4% recycled battery content by total weight, up to 10% of a key active ingredient. This is a ‘first step’ towards reducing the impact household batteries have on the planet and paving the way for Energizer to reach its goal to increase the amount of recycled content from 4% to 40% by 2025.
“At
Energizer we will always embrace a challenge, and we want
Kiwis to also feel empowered to take on those things that
may seem daunting at first but that will help bring about
positive changes in the lives of their friends, families and
communities. We are delighted the grants awarded today will
assist these worthy recipients in meeting their goals,”
says Rafael Laguda, Brand Manager, Energizer New
Zealand.
