Enchanting Stories Celebrate Our Unique Culture

ENCHANTING STORIES IGNITE YOUNG MINDS AND CELEBRATE OUR UNIQUE CULTURE

Auckland Live with Capital E presents
Songs of the Sea – Waiata O Te Moana
Written by Peter Wilson and directed by Jacqueline Coats
Music composed by Stephen Gallagher

Created by some of Aotearoa’s most renowned writers and musicians, Songs of the Sea – Waiata O Te Moana takes to the stage for one day only at the Bruce Mason Centre on Thursday 18th May.

With previous seasons in New Zealand and Australia, this beautiful production returns for a nationwide tour, coming to Tāmaki Makaurau to delight children with tales of the ocean.

Songs of the Sea – Waiata O Te Moana brings magical storytelling to life through puppetry, song and dance, and the stunning effects will leave young ones and their parents spellbound.

As four children play by the ocean, a large conch shell starts to whisper stories of the sea. Fluorescent fish float under a starry sky and a magical character appears in a rickety boat to tell his fishy tale.

Inviting the audience to look to where the sky meets the sea for the answers, Songs of the Sea – Waiata O Te Moana unfolds the mysteries of where the first fish came from. The mythical stories are told through the charming puppets of artist Sue Hill in song and dance, with incredible original music by Stephen Gallagher. Written by the founding artistic director of Capital E, Peter Wilson, and directed by highly regarded Jacqueline Coats, this run of shows has assembled a great cast with Maria Williams, Isobel Mackinnon and Jonathan Morgan taking to the stage.
