The Four Nations
Lions’ Male Choir, formed in 2001 by Mark Burrows of
Cardiff, was created to follow the British and Irish
Lions’ Rugby tours.
Featuring a changing lineup of
talented choristers from Wales, England, Scotland and
Ireland, they have previously toured Australia in both 2001
and 2013, New Zealand in 2005, and South Africa in 2009.
Once again, the choir has returned to New Zealand for the
2017 British and Irish Lions Tour to perform in Auckland,
Christchurch, Napier and Palmerton North, conducted by Ieuan
Jones.
After previously being asked to perform the Lions
anthem at all three tests in the 2005 New Zealand tour, Mark
Burrows has brought together more than 50 performers for the
choir’s latest tour.
Beginning their tour with a
sold-out show in Auckland on Test Day last Saturday to 4,000
Lions’ supporters in The Cloud, they will continue to
perform to a nation of old friends and new connections. As
said by Mark Burrows himself, “Whatever the outcome of the
rugby, we know the choir will make new and lasting
friendships”.
