The Whimsy Primsy Collection

The Whimsy Primsy Collection

A Children’s Picture Book Series by Jen Gibbs

Launching Saturday 28 October
Launching with the support of arguably New Zealand’s best-loved children’s author, Joy Cowley who said of Whimsy Primsy: “Whimsy Primsy is every child who needs a little reassurance. These delightful books are real, non-preachy and empowering.”

They’ll be hitting mainstream and independent retail outlets from 28 October (also available for preorder from jengibbs.com). The launch, which coincides with with National Book Week celebrations (23-29 October) and NZ Bookshop Day, will be held at the Point Chevalier library on Saturday 28th October at 10:00AM and everyone is welcome to attend.

Jen’s children, Seb and Elodie, will be hosting the launch. “The children have been an integral part of Primsy’s creation. They suggested themes and helped edit and illustrate, so they are very much part of the Primsy journey. They’ll be wonderful hosts on the day!” said Jen.

These are books that adults and children alike will love to read and re-read (and then read again). The illustrations are delightfully whimsical and the themes are gently encouraging. The first in the collection is about Primsy running her race, she takes a few detours along the way and the children listening can give her the instructions she needs. The second, Whimsy Primsy: Sad To Glad, is about the power of friendship and succeeds in instilling hope in a non-cliche way. The third and final book is a conversation between Primsy and her dad about who loves whom the most - who will win?

Jen lives in Auckland with her husband and three children where she writes with a view of the sea. "I live by a beach in Auckland, New Zealand with my husband and three young children. It is pretty much as idyllic as it sounds - I see the sea winking at me from my desk. And it's also as chaotic as it sounds - today involved mopping up whole jars of coconut oil and baking powder while the child responsible hightailed it out the window!"

Four Titles (Hardcover): Whimsy Primsy Runs Her Race, RRP$20; Whimsy Primsy: Sad To Glad, RRP$20; Whimsy Primsy: Love You More, RRP$20; The Whimsy Primsy Collection (boxed set of all three Primsy stories) RRP $39.99
