Hobson Street Theatre Company presents: The Race

Director Bronwyn Bent & Boni Te Rongopai Tukiwaho

BATS Theatre, Wellington March 19th – 21st

With a raw honesty and dark humour, these unconventional performers are set to explore different aspects of racism in Aotearoa.

The Hobson Street Theatre Company, in association with the Auckland City Mission, brings you The Race: an unapologetic piece of theatre looking head on at how racism affects those experiencing homelessness in Aotearoa today. HSTC is a company made up of people who have lived or do live on the streets, they are renowned for their humour and spirit and 2018 sees their first tour to the Wellington Fringe festival.

While in town, HSTC will run two free workshops for the Downtown Community Ministry.

With the support of Creative New Zealand, HSTC will be performing to audiences in both Auckland and Wellington, hoping to spark an important discussion about homelessness in New Zealand with their enduring message, “homeless don’t mean hopeless.”

“The cast have a joyous giving spirit, and I felt privileged to watch them share their lives and experiences.” – audience member

BATS Theatre, Wellington March 19th – 21st. 6.30pm. $20 Full, $15 Concession, $12 Fringe addict. www.bats.co.nz
