We Are One – A Concert Celebrating Diversity 2018

Presented by Play It Strange with Newmarket Rotary Sat. 14 April 2018

Dave Dobbyn, Debbie Harwood, Eddie Rayner, Suzanne Lynch, Peter Urlich, Leza Corban, May Zeng, and The Harrop Family plus many more will be taking the stage, to celebrate diversity and recognise talent and courage. This year we will be including artists from both the Tourette Syndrome (TS) and Autism (ASD) communities.

Following on from the success of the We Are One Project in 2016 and Concert for Autism in 2017, the 2018 concert extends further into the world of ‘difference’. This year’s event aims to create awareness and empathy and provide opportunities for young students to get on stage and celebrate with professional musicians.

Play It Strange Trust CEO, Mike Chunn says “the We Are One concert has established itself as a truly communal and powerful event. With performances featuring three generations of the one family, Tourette’s and ASD musicians, Play It Strange songwriters and iconic NZ artists. The concept of We Are One is realised providing a window into what our vibrant nation has to celebrate.”

The all ages concert will raise funds for the Play It Strange Trust, with contributions to Autism NZ and Tourette’s Association of NZ. The partnership with Rotary Newmarket continues into the third year and fits the Rotary vision for community service and friendship.
