New Faces at CoCA

New Faces at CoCA

Centre of Contemporary Art Toi Moroki (CoCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of the gallery team that will lead CoCA’s ongoing contribution to the arts and cultural life of Christchurch city.

Romy Willing takes up the role of Executive Director supported by Alice Tyler as Manager Programming and current staff member Jennifer Shields steps into the new role of Manager Gallery Operations.

Board Chair Tony Chamberlain says, “We’re excited by the future for CoCA. We’ve taken a good look at what’s worked well for CoCA since we reopened and how we can best deliver contemporary art for Christchurch for the years ahead, and developed these new roles. We look forward to the energy and experience the new team will bring.”

Romy and Jennifer take up their new roles from 1 March and Alice will join the team from 26 March.

Mr Chamberlain says the Board wish to express their appreciation of recently retired staff members including Khye Hitchcock and Katie Hallam who both made significant contributions to sustaining the gallery programme following the resignation of CoCA’s Director last year. The Board would like to acknowledge in particular Khye’s contribution to the two groundbreaking exhibitions recently hosted by CoCA – Paemanu: Nohaka Toi - Ngāi Tahu Artists in Residence and MAKING SPACE.

CoCA will continue to pursue its stated purpose and ambition to “engage people in conversations about contemporary life and culture”, as clearly demonstrated in the challenging new work of Peter Robinson: Fieldwork, which will be unveiled to the public this week.
