Dunedin Fringe comedians win at South Island Raw Comedy Comp

Dunedin Fringe comedians have placed top three in the South Island RAW Stand-up Comedy Competition on Saturday in Christchurch. The RAW Comedy competition is an annual nationwide competition to find the freshest comedy talent in New Zealand. The competition has produced several Billy T. James comedy award winners and is a highly prestigious event which is strongly contested. This year’s winning trio can be seen collaborating together in two shows at the Dunedin Fringe Festival 11-14th March at Dee’s Café and Venue.

The South Island RAW Comedy winner Aaron Jelley is performing with third place getter Jo Ghastly in an unscripted comedy-drama Strangers by Impulse Theatre. This show runs back to back with another comedy show Peppered Unicorn presents Pretty Little Confessions. Jo Ghastly collaborates with Twitter sensation and second place getter Audrey Porne in the all-female comedy troupe show. The trio are highly prolific at Dunedin Fringe with Aaron also having a solo show DABDA at Inch Bar, Audrey having a duo show Sunday Morning Gothic and Jo also performing in the Roast Battle and Nasty Women.

Pretty Little Confessions by Peppered Unicorn is a hilarious fast paced show featuring a combination of sketch, confessional monologues and unscripted scenes using anonymous audience confesssions. Preview shows in Christchurch have received great feedback and the troupe is very excited to bring this show to Dunedin for the first time. Strangers by Impulse Theatre is an innovative comedy drama that is unscripted and different every night. It explores the relationships that strangers form with each other and has received critical acclaim during its Christchurch season. Dunedin Fringe is proud to support these award winning comedians bringing their shows to Dunedin Fringe for the first time. Seating is limited for all these shows, so bookings are recommended as soon as possible via www.dunedinfringe.co.nz
