Māori Language Week at Wintec

Tēnā Koe! Ko tēnei te wiki o te reo Māori. Mōrena - Good morning - This is Maori Language Week.

Wintec Māori Langague Week celebrations got off to a great start yesterday with the launch of Pitoitoi, our Māori Language Week newspaper, and with a thought provoking lunch-time seminar with recently retired CEO of the Māori Language Commission Haami Piripi.

Wednesday : The Waikato River Claim Negotiators Update – Lunch-time seminar C 16 lecture theatre, city campus, Tristram Street, Hamilton
12:00 – 1:00p.m.

Waikato River Claim by Tainui. There has been much controversy in the public arena about Tainui and their claim to the Waikato River. The Tainui Co-Negotiators, Lady Raiha Mahuta and Tukoroirangi Morgan have progressed this historical claim with the government to the point of a Draft Agreement in Principle (DAP). The seminar will discuss the historic background and what the DAP means with the team involved in the negotiations, lead by Lady Raiha Mahuta.
