International Space School
Nupur Kaku, 15 from
Lynfield College, Auckland
Sakshi Kalani, 16 Epsom Girls Gramar School, Auckland
Sonal Saini, Epsom Girls' Grammar School, Auckland
Angela Chou, Diocesan School for Girls', Auckland
Yuan Niels, 17, Western Heights High School Rotorua,
Thomas Scott, Western Heights High School, Rotorua
Lisa Hubbard, Woodford House, Havelock North,
Jake Chapman-Olsen, Napier Boys' High School, Napier
Eight students from around New Zealand have
been selected by the Royal Society of New Zealand to attend
the Australian International Space School which will be
based in Sydney and Canberra. They all depart on 3rd April
and will meet up with students selected from Australia for a
week of organized activities which will include visits to
Sydney Observatory; Tidbindilla Deep Space Tracking Station,
National Science Centre, various universities as well as
social activities including visiting the IMAX theatre and
touring Darlington Harbour.
Their travel and registration has been subsidized by the Talented School Students Travel Award which is funded through the Ministry of Research, Science & Technology and administered by the Royal Society of New Zealand.
Mr Gary Sparks a teacher at Napier Boys' High School and also an educator at the Hawkes Bay Holt Planetarium will be accompanying the students from New Zealand.
