Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Germann said it was the culmination of an extensive international search and selection process.

In his role as Principal of the College, Dr Langley was a key figure in the amalgamation of the College and the University of Auckland and with the formation of the Faculty of Education. He has led the Faculty since the amalgamation in September 2004.
