Open Polytechnic finalist in 2011 Wellington Gold Awards

Lower Hutt-based distance learning provider the Open Polytechnic is celebrating being named a finalist in the 2011 Wellington Gold Awards.

Announced this week (13th April), the Open Polytechnic is a finalist in the ‘Supporting Gold’ category.

Enrolling around 29,000 learners nation-wide each year, the Open Polytechnic providers access to vocationally applicable courses and qualifications to mainly adult learners who are upskilling for a current or future job, and need access to flexible learning in their own time and place.

The Open Polytechnic’s entry for the Wellington Gold Awards focussed on its national provision as a distance learning provider, its innovative and rapid response to industry upskilling needs, the international connections it is forging in the field of distance learning, its sustainable business practices and the financial contribution it makes to the Wellington region.

Open Polytechnic Chief Executive Dr Caroline Seelig says she is proud of the contribution the organisation makes to Wellington and the nation.

“It’s wonderful to see that contribution recognised with this award nomination. The Open Polytechnic has been dedicated to helping Kiwis achieve their goals through access to high quality distance education for almost 65-years.

“We pride ourselves on finding innovative and sustainable ways in which we can continue to offer access to the very best in distance learning resources and teaching support, and provide value to our learners and the Government.”

The winners of the Wellington Gold Awards will be announced at a gala dinner on 18th May.
