ACG wins prestigious international award

MEDIA RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION

ACG wins prestigious international award for Best High School

Sunday 4 September.

On Saturday the Academic Colleges Group (ACG) was named Best High School at the international educations industry’s most prestigious event at the London Hilton on Park Lane. Kim Harase, Director of Marketing, accepted the prestigious award on behalf of ACG at the Language Travel Magazine (LTM) Star Awards formal gala dinner attended by over 700 education providers and agents from around the world.

Kim Harase says “The winners of this event are chosen from thousands of votes cast by those in the education industry worldwide, so winning this award is a huge accolade as it places ACG at the top in terms of industry recognition by agents.

“It is a great confirmation for us that we’re on the right track. It's important to us to really listen to our students and their families to provide them with the best educational opportunities.”

The first ACG school, Senior College, opened in 1994 in downtown Auckland. Behind the school were two New Zealand academics, Dawn Jones (ex-Diocesan) and John Graham (ex-Auckland Grammar School), both well-known and highly respected educationalists and past principals of top New Zealand schools. They wanted to create a unique place of learning, fashioned on the best of international models.

The idea was backed by financial advisers including Danny Chan; and Ian King contributed to the education 'business' development. All the founders had worked in education at school or university level and all shared a vision for liberal but academically focussed schools.

It has been a winning formula. This year, ACG Senior College was named the top New Zealand Cambridge School. With a roll of 387 students and every student sitting CIE, they received an incredible list of top in the world and top in New Zealand placings.

ACG is centred on their student-focused approach. With the management of the school at head office, the principals do what they do best and lead their team in the best educational direction. Teachers focus on their subjects and the needs of the students are put first.

The ACG creators hit the nail on the head with their vision of learning. ACG now has 10 schools in three countries with over 5,000 students. Yet, it’s the one-on-one approach that has been its core. Each school has its own character, they are secular, uniformed, co-ed and offer the Cambridge International Examination system as their primary syllabus.

ACG was also nominated for ‘LTM English Language School Southern Hemisphere.’
