BoP Polytechnic one of top performers in league tables

Bay of Plenty Polytechnic one of top performers in national league tables

Bay of Plenty Polytechnic is now ranked in the top four performing polytechnics in New Zealand according to the performance table published by the Tertiary Education Commission this week.

Since 2010, the Polytechnic has increased their successful course completion rates by 12% and their completion of qualifications by 14%.

Polytechnic Chief Executive, Dr. Alan Hampton, said he was pleased with the performance indicators. “We welcome the new levels of transparency within the ITP sector. Our improvement in the two key indicators has not occurred by chance. We are continually reflecting on how we connect and support our students, from first engagement through to successful completion.

“What was particularly pleasing for Bay of Plenty Polytechnic in 2011 is the high percentage of successful completions for our Māori learners who comprise approximately 30% of our student population. Performance by each ethnic group is currently not reported in the TEC performance tables.”

The Tertiary Education Commission reported performance indicators across all 18 of the countries ITPs (Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics), universities, Wananga and PTEs (Private Training Establishments) as part of their Student Achievement Component (SAC) funding.
