Piling solution demonstration at CPIT

3 December 2012 - For immediate release
Piling solution demonstration at CPIT

Injection micropiling technology that can stabilise houses on TC3 land, amongst other applications, will be demonstrated at CPIT’s Trade Innovation Institute on Tuesday 4 December at 5pm.

Injection micropiling has numerous uses that are significant for the recovery of Christchurch. As the equipment is very compact, it can be used to install piles inside of homes and in low overhead clearances inside basements and parking garages.

CPIT’s Skills for Canterbury (SFC) unit has partnered with Core Civil Solutions to provide training programmes for operating injection micropiling equipment.

SFC is CPIT's new workforce development unit, providing industry, employers and regional organisations with customised training initiatives and professional development for Canterbury’s recovery. Core Civil Solutions is a Christchurch based contractor bringing together local and international expertise through AMO Consultancy, a local consortium that designs piles installations, and Morath-Southrim, which supplies the injection micropiling equipment and consumables.

“These machines have the potential to bring different possibilities and significant momentum to the repair of houses, land and retaining walls in the region with robust, long term solutions. We are very pleased to provide the training that will get that process underway,” SFC Director Phil Agnew said.
Injection micropiling can be used to add additional piling support to existing buildings, for seismic upgrades of buildings, on retaining walls and to stabilise properties susceptible to lateral spread on high water tables or near rivers.
