21 New Infographics Set To Prioritise Education Funding And Action Across Auckland
Learn about education in your community with the latest data

A new set of innovative infographic resources for each of Auckland’s 21 Local Boards has been created to help prioritise funding and action in education across the city by COMET Auckland, a charitable education trust and Council-Controlled Organisation.

From Albert-Eden to Whau, each Local Board in Tamaki Makaurau has its own easy-to-read snapshot, featuring important information about the area including:

• Median income
• Ethnicity and local iwi
• Early Childhood Education services and participation
• NCEA achievement and school decile ratings
• Local skills and industries
• How to raise local education achievement.

Each snapshot also compares the Local Board’s data with city-wide targets found in the Auckland Plan, so each area can track progress and prioritise where action needs to take place.

Alison Sutton, Strategic Analyst for COMET Auckland and project leader for the snapshots, says: “Education, learning and skills are key issues in all our communities, so it's important to have specific information at the local level to enable good decisions to be made about how to improve outcomes. The problem is that much of the existing data comes in complex formats which aren’t particularly easy to understand – much less to act on.

“These 21 Local Board snapshots are visually appealing and, at the same time, full of data that will inform action, advocacy and collaboration at the community level. We are encouraging Aucklanders to visit our website, download the snapshot for their area and then use it as a reference tool in meetings, parent-teacher interviews, community events and discussions”.

The snapshots have been developed with input from local boards, community leaders and educators – and feedback already received has praised the accessibility, readability and innovative presentation of the resources.

Each Local Board and educators from around the city will be given copies of the snapshots, so they can build on local strengths and identify areas for attention and improvement. You can go to cometauckland to access your area’s snapshot.
