The
University of Auckland welcomes closer engagement with
Callaghan Innovation
The University of Auckland has welcomed Callaghan Innovation’s Statement of Intent which will see the crown entity partner more closely with universities.
In its first full three-year Statement of Intent, tabled in Parliament today, Callaghan Innovation unveiled plans to assess its mix of product development and more fundamental science and research programmes. This would include aligning research teams focussed on early-stage fundamental research and resources at universities including The University of Auckland.
Vice-Chancellor Stuart McCutcheon says: “We look forward to engaging with Callaghan Innovation in the next six months and work constructively to assist with the possible movement of research teams to the university sector.”
The University acknowledges Callaghan Innovation will not be competing for contestable research funding bids; this ensures the university sector will not be competing directly with Callaghan Innovation.
