Fashion unleashed at Whanganui UCOL

Media Release

Tuesday 12 November 2013

Fashion unleashed at Whanganui UCOL

Students of Whanganui UCOL’s School of Fashion will let loose at their annual catwalk show on Friday.

Unleashed will showcase the creative talents of students from all levels of the School’s Fashion programmes.

It is a celebration of hard work and talent which, in some cases, has been applied for up to three years.

With inspiration and themes as diverse as butterflies, military uniforms, Celtic goddesses and denim, Unleashed is sure to intrigue.

Third Year Bachelor of Fashion students will display their individual style and aesthetic with five piece collections, and a Graduate Diploma in Fashion student will show a three piece collection – all which have been designed, developed and refined over the past year.

Year Two Bachelor of Fashion students will showcase their work in the categories of Cult Couture, Manawatu Knitting Mills and Cutting Edge.

First Year Bachelor of Fashion students will present their take on The Dress.

Certificate in Fashion students will show garments they have created under the title, Personal Projects.

The popular annual event is well received by the community and will be held in the Atrium at the Rutland Street campus on Friday 15 November.

Experienced Auckland pattern-maker John Kite will be a guest speaker at the event.

Models’ hair and makeup will be done by Whanganui UCOL students studying towards Hair and Beauty programmes.

A lively audience is expected in what has traditionally been a highly supportive environment for the students to publicly reveal their creative talent.

When: 8.00 p.m. Friday, 15 November 2013.

Where: Atrium, Whanganui UCOL.
