Give Nursing A Go

Give Nursing A Go

Anyone who is considering a career in nursing is invited to an information evening at NorthTec, to find out more about its nursing study programmes.

The information evening will take place on Thursday, 16 October, at 5pm, at the Interactive Learning Centre on the Raumanga campus in Whangarei.

With nursing students often juggling a number of commitments, NorthTec courses offer flexibility to work around this, with a blend of e-learning modules and classroom teaching.

The evening will give prospective students the chance to find out what the programme entails, and learn about the NorthTec approach to study, entry criteria, how to apply and the admissions process.

Visitors will also get the chance to meet the tutors and ask questions about the programme, returning to study, or pursuing a nursing career.

NorthTec’s nursing programmes are popular, with a reputation for excellence, and lead to great employment outcomes for graduates.

Nationally, nursing workforce strategies are focusing on increasing Māori and Pacific recruitment, to have a workforce that better reflects the country’s ethnic make-up. With around a third of Northland’s population being Māori, NorthTec is keen to address the shortfall in qualified Māori nursing staff.

Jane Anderson, NorthTec Nursing Programme Leader, said: “We offer small classes with a whānau feel, and provide the support you’ll need as you move through your learning journey. We make it possible for students from all walks of life to gain well-recognised qualifications and to transform their lives. If you have the desire and determination to succeed, we are committed to helping you reach your goal.”
