Early Bird Discount for Students Keen to do an AFS Student Exchange

Wellington April 1st 2015 – Not for profit student exchange AFS is offering students a discount on exchanges up to April 30th

With $1,000 off year and $500 off half year exchanges people might think this is an April fool’s story! But no, students who inquire now with AFS can make their exchange that much easier to achieve!

AFS has been offering student exchanges in New Zealand since 1947 and with year, half year and semester exchanges, there’s something for every student.

“Students work hard to raise the money for their exchange and so a discount of $1000 is a great way to kick start those savings.” Says AFS Programme Manager, Diana Rennie.

AFS also assists students with their fundraising by providing a booklet about fundraising. “The booklet’s full of ideas to help students raise the money for their trip,” says Diana. “Many of our students earn all the money themselves for the trip. It’s very doable; students just have to be committed.”

AFA offers students the opportunity to live overseas in another country for a year and students get to pick from 52 countries for their exchange.

A number of scholarships are also available for students interested in doing an exchange.

“It’s a life changing event,” says Diana. “One of our returnees, Sean Kelly won Project Runway last year in New York. His parents have said it was his AFS year in Denmark that opened his eyes to the world of design.”

An exchange isn’t like a holiday, students are fully immersed in another culture, living with a family, attending school, making friends and even working in part time jobs.

Students interested in finding out more can take the fun quiz on the AFS website to see which countries they might like to think about. Students can also pre-apply via the ASF website. www.afs.org.nz
