National Society Backs Apprentices
Engineering apprentices and students have been handed an opportunity to rub shoulders with the industry elite at the upcoming National Maintenance Engineering Conference in Hamilton at November. The annual event, organised by the Maintenance Engineering Society of NZ has long been a must-do for anybody involved in maintenance engineering and industry, with over 60 exhibitors on show and the opportunity to listen to global and local experts on a range of holistic maintenance and line management topics over two days.
MESNZ is a well known advocate for apprentices and engineering students and has this year extended its support to make it feasible for students and apprentices to attend the event, learn more about industry and forge valuable relationships for their careers. With the event already sporting the lowest entry fee of any similar event in the Southern Hemisphere at $725+GST pp, organisers have slashed the registration for students and apprentices down to $190+GST for a single day pass or $320+GST for the entire proceedings.
According to Event Director Craig Carlyle, “MESNZ recognises the need to reinvest in the next generation; we spend considerable effort preaching this to government and industry, so it is only right to practise what we preach. With both the Bill Buckley Engineering Scholarship and Stuart Tolhurst Apprentice Trophy being presented at this year’s SKF National Maintenance Engineering Conference, we want to see lots of inspired young faces in the audience. With the exhibitors, speakers and engineers that will be here this year, attending the conference will be a life-shaping event for many young engineers”
The SKF National Maintenance Engineering Conference will be held at the Claudelands Event Centre, Hamilton on November 18 and 19. Details and registration can be found at www.mesnz.org.nz/conference. An afternoon Public Trade Expo will also be held on Tuesday 17 November for pre-registered members of the public.
