Schools to take flight with Airpoints™ for Schools

Schools to take flight with Airpoints™ for Schools

Ten Kiwi schools have cause to celebrate following a huge response to Air New Zealand’s first annual Airpoints™ for Schools programme.

From April through May the schools selected to participate in the 2016 programme were each eligible to receive public donations up to a total value of 10,000 Airpoints Dollars™ to redeem on flights that contribute to their chosen environmental, educational or cultural projects for students or to upskill teachers.

The schools, from Whangarei, Auckland, Dunedin, Christchurch, Napier, Hastings, Wellington, Rotorua and a remote rural schools group received nearly 75,000 donated Airpoints Dollars – with each school meeting its individual target. The Airpoints Dollars donated will go towards projects and learning experiences including travel to Samoa to volunteer at a local school, a cultural exchange to Singapore, a trip to Hokitika to study whitebait habitats and travel to attend a robotics competition.

Air New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Christopher Luxon says the success of this year’s programme is testament to the generosity of Airpoints members.

“We are passionate about supporting initiatives that give back to the communities in which we operate and that inspire the younger generations by providing opportunities to gain experiences and knowledge to expand their horizons.

“It’s hugely rewarding to know that this resonates with our Airpoints members who have shown themselves to be extremely generous.

“Congratulations to all schools involved and thank you to our Airpoints members for your support of our Airpoints for Schools programme.”
