The largest upcoming NZ Homebased ECE Conference 2016

New Zealand Homebased ECE Conference 2016

The New Zealand Homebased ECE Association is holding its 29th Annual General Meeting and 2016 Conference at Living Springs in Christchurch from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th September.

Homebased childcare, (where educators provide childcare in their own homes for young children), is the fastest-growing ECE sector and the preferred form of childcare and education for children aged 0-5. The conference is growing in popularity each year.

This years’ Conference is proudly sponsored by The Open Polytechnic of NZ, Rothbury Insurance Brokers and Educa Online E-Portfolios. As part of the awards evening on Saturday September 17th, the award for the New Zealand Homebased Educator or Nanny of the Year, sponsored by Educa Online E-Portfolios, will be presented. The winner and runner up will each receive a cash prize and the winner a trophy.

“This event is an important opportunity for people involved in homebased childcare to come together, share their experiences and enjoy an opportunity to make connections,” says Evan Kidd, President of the Homebased ECE Association. “It’s also a chance for us to celebrate all the great work that goes on across New Zealand in the homebased sector, and the unique service that more and more children are benefiting from.”

Educa Online E-Portfolios is proud to sponsor the Educator or Nanny of the Year award 2016 which recognises and celebrates the quality of work and the important contribution that Educators and Nannies make towards home based education and childcare. CEO Grant Richardson says:

“We see the benefits for children of receiving childcare and education in natural settings and smaller groups. We believe homebased ECE targets a specific need in the sector that is vital to establishing close relationships and meeting the needs of each individual child so well. The work the Educators and Nannies put in is crucial to those children and we feel that this Award encourages them to strive to be their best.”

Keynote speakers and workshop presenters for the Conference include Nathan Wallis (formerly a board member and senior trainer with Brainwave Trust), Karena Stephens-Wilson (a consultant in facilitation, training and Maori Development, and Viv Shearsby works with Core Education, based in Christchurch.
