St Stephen’s and Queen Victoria Schools scholarships
The St Stephen’s and Queen Victoria Schools Trust Board is pleased to announce its new scholarship programme!
The Mihingare (Anglican)
Secondary School Scholarships are for Maori secondary school
students who demonstrate financial need, leadership
qualities/potential and a satisfactory educational
background, and who will benefit from additional financial
support for their secondary schooling.
Up to 30 scholarships worth up to
$10,000 each are being offered.
We are
now calling for the first Mihingare Scholarship applications
(for the 2017 school year).
We ask you to help
spread the word and encourage people to apply.
The
St Stephen's and Queen Victoria Schools Trust was
established by the Anglican Church in 1961. The Trust’s
purpose is:
"The advancement and propagation of
education for children in New Zealand, principally for girls
and boys of New Zealand Maori descent but including peoples
of all races and denominations".
In September 2016
the St Stephen's and Queen Victoria Schools Trust Board
established the Mihingare Scholarships to achieve the
purposes of the Trust in order to enable Maori to succeed as
Maori and access quality educational pathways.
The
Mihingare Scholarships target secondary school students who
demonstrate financial need, and given the history and
purpose of the Trust, consideration is also given to
applicants who are: Maori; Anglican; will be attending Maori
Anglican Special Character Schools; and/or whanau of past
students of St Stephen’s and Queen Victoria
schools.
