2017 MITO Scholarship recipients announced

2017 MITO SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED

MITO is delighted to announce that it has awarded scholarships to 45 outstanding individuals working within New Zealand’s automotive, industrial textile fabrication, transport and logistics industries as part of their 2017 scholarship programme.

Developed to assist aspiring and successful graduate learners to progress their skills and knowledge, the MITO scholarship programme contributes funding towards apprenticeships, training programmes and business management qualifications. It is a key component of MITO’s commitment to supporting and promoting the huge range of opportunities available for people who are keen to further their learning and contribute to the future of their respective trades.

“MITO is excited to award these scholarships to our 2017 recipients and congratulate them on their success,” says MITO Chief Executive Janet Lane. “We continue to receive an extremely high number of applications for our annual scholarship programme and the selection process becomes harder and more competitive each year. We are inspired by the passion of these high-calibre applicants and their personal commitment to further education and industry training. This year’s recipients should be immensely proud of their achievement and I personally wish them every success for the future.”

The Kick Start scholarship is awarded to learners who have worked in one of MITO’s industries for less than 12 months, paying $1,000 towards the first year of study for any MITO apprenticeship or traineeship programme at Level 4 or above. The recipients are:

The Kick Start Māori and Pasifika scholarship is awarded to learners who have worked in one of MITO’s industries for less than 12 months and are of Māori or Pasifika ethnicity, paying $1,000 towards the first year of study for any MITO apprenticeship or traineeship programme at Level 4 or above. The recipients are:

The Graduate Scholarship is awarded to individuals who have completed a national qualification at Level 4 or above through MITO, Tranzqual or EXITO and wish to continue their studies. This scholarship contributes up to $2,000 towards any programme of study related to their industry. The recipients are:

The Business Skills scholarship is awarded to current or aspiring managers or supervisors in one of MITO’s industries and pays for the first year fees for MITO's First Line Management programme. The recipients are:

The Clyde Cunningham QSM Memorial scholarship is awarded to MITO automotive graduates in the Hawke’s Bay region and honours a long-standing MITO employee. The scholarship pays for the first year fees for MITO's First Line Management programme. The recipients are:

Bevan Bullot, Greenmeadows Panel and Paint, Napier

Seth Holloway, Napier South Mechanical.
