Enviroschools’ milestones a time to reflect

Two Waikato schools will be celebrating their Enviroschools green-gold milestones this month.

Waikato Waldorf School in Hamilton and Cambridge Primary School invite media to their respective Reflections on 6 December and 10 December.

A reflection is the opportunity for schools to consider how far they have come with their sustainable actions and share their experiences with those who support the programme.

Green-Gold Enviroschools are recognised as having sustainability woven into all aspects of school life. Enviroschools start as bronze, laying the foundations for sustainability actions, and progress through silver (working towards sustainability) to become green-gold, where action is integral and embedded.

The sustainable actions taken by each school are inspired by the students.

Cambridge Primary School, which adopted a code to respect people, plants and resources, has taken just five years to become green-gold. Students have flourishing vegetable and butterfly gardens, an orchard, help with predator control in nearby Stanway Reserve, and are working towards zero waste.

Waikato Waldorf School has also taken five years to become green-gold, with its students particularly proud of their newly created bird garden and bird houses.

As part of their Reflections, the two schools will share their aspirations for future sustainability work.

The Reflections will be held at:
