Focus announces new fund for global education
14 October 2011
Global Focus Aotearoa today announced the launch of their new fund to support global education activities in New Zealand.
The aim of the fund is to 'provide funding for innovative and lasting ways of developing accessible education for Global Citizenship in New Zealand'.
Global Focus Aotearoa is a small Wellington based NGO that has produced material examining global issues. Earlier this year Global Focus announced that it would be winding down its services 19 years after it began. Remaining funds will be channelled into continuing Global Focus Aotearoa's vision, through the Global Focus Fund.
‘This fund is a continuation of the work of Global Focus to inform and educate people to take action for a just world.’ says Karin Brown, the current Director of Global Focus.
‘It is our hope that the funding will increase the numbers of people in Aotearoa New Zealand who recognise and act on their obligations and responsibilities we all have in our increasingly globalised world.’
Applicants are invited to submit expressions of interest via the website at www.globalfocus.org.nz/fund.
Global Focus was known
for its development resource library, periodicals,
information, resources and support for international
development organisations, students, academics and school
teachers to increase their understanding of international
development. The organisation received government funding
for over ten years, which ceased in 2010, severely reducing
the capacity of the organisation to carry out its vision.
