Free Early Childcare Centre Opens in Claudelands

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Free Early Childcare Centre Opens in Claudelands ...

Just opened in Claudelands is Little Ladybugs Learning Centre, an early childhood care and education facility for three and four-year-olds.

What makes Little Ladybugs special is that it’s free for children aged three to four years, who are not already participating in an early childhood education service. Little Ladybugs is able to offer its service for free because it takes advantage of the 20 Hours ECE subsidy which is available to all three and four-year-olds for up to 20 hours per week.

Little Ladybugs offers a full care and education programme, based on New Zealand’s early childhood curriculum, Te Whāriki. It also provides children with a nutritious lunch and afternoon tea. Little Ladybugs is open from 12 noon to 5pm, Monday to Thursday, meaning families can utilise their full 20 Hours ECE entitlement, without incurring any additional costs.

The centre has been custom-renovated and offers a wide range of resources and learning opportunities for children. It is licensed by the Ministry of Education, whose regulations set standards and expectations for curriculum development, teacher qualifications, group size and ratios, health and safety practices, facilities and premises, and governance, management and administration requirements.

Little Ladybugs is a subsidiary of Kids at Home, a homebased childcare and nanny service successfully operating since 2002. Paula Lovegrove, director of Kids at Home, says “we are really excited to be able to offer the children and families in our local community this fantastic opportunity to get involved in an early childhood care and education setting that is sensitive to the needs of its community. We’re working alongside a number of community agencies who are referring families to us, and families can also come to us direct.”

Families who are interested in joining Little Ladybugs are welcome to call in during work hours to view the service “in action” or alternatively phone us on 07-858 3038.
