Kindergarten teachers settle pay negotiations
After months of negotiations, kindergarten teachers have voted in favour of settling their collective agreement which gives them ongoing pay parity with primary and secondary teachers.
Negotiations of the Kindergarten Teachers Collective Agreement have been going on since last year.
At recent paid union meetings around the country kindergarten teachers were asked to either ratify a final offer, or vote in favour of industrial action.
They have voted to accept the offer and ratify the agreement. The settlement maintains a unified pay scale and pay parity for the next 21 months.
NZEI lead negotiator Hayley Whitaker says it is good to have the agreement signed and sealed before the end of the year so teachers can go into the new year with some certainty.
