Going, going, sold

Going, going, sold

UCOL’s latest house build project has been sold at auction.

The successful bid of $127,500 allows UCOL to cover the material costs and present its chosen community charity, the Middle Districts Lions Club, with a handsome return from the sale.

The three bedroom house is the fourth full-size building constructed by UCOL Certificate in Carpentry students at the Amesbury Street site.

“These building projects give UCOL the chance to offer a real-life, tangible learning experience for our Carpentry students to become job ready graduates,” says Programme Manager of Construction Trades, Danny Reilly.

“It’s also a great opportunity for UCOL and the students to work with local companies and trades-people and create a genuine community project.”

Proceeds from previous builds have benefited the Arohanui Hospice and Habitat for Humanity.

UCOL Construction students are also building a sustainable eco-friendly 6 Star House on a site in Tremaine Avenue.
