Open Polytechnic lecturer - fellowship to Korean university

9 June 2014

Open Polytechnic lecturer awarded fellowship to Korea National Open University

Open Polytechnic Senior Lecturer in Business Computing and E-Learning, John Green has been awarded an Asian Association of Open Universities fellowship to the Korea National Open University in Seoul, Korea.

The fellowship begins on 16th June. The 3-week fellowship will allow John to conduct a comparative study of the two institutions. “I propose to survey several departments and facilities and compare their retention strategies with those employed at Open Polytechnic”, says John.

He says that staff exchanges are mutually beneficial to both institutions. “We have much to learn from each other. Such exchanges open doors between the participating institutions for future exchanges, networking and collaboration.”

During his visit John will be based in the Institute of Distance Education and will visit the Departments of e-Learning, Computer Science, Agriculture, Life Science and Home Economics as well as the Library, Digital Media Centre and Centre for Lifelong Education.

John has previously been awarded fellowships to Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU), Bangkok and the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Australia, along with extended visits to the Open University, UK, the University of the South Pacific (USP), Fiji and Simon Fraser University, Canada, shadowing educational experts such as Gilly Salmon and Linda Harrasim.
