Mayor To Set Fire At Civic Chambers

Mayor To Set Fire At Civic Chambers

Christchurch's Mayor, Garry Moore, will be performing the last rites of a relic of past civic observance on March 20.

He will ensure that the occasion, the end of an era in City Council affairs, is marked with fire and for this reason all media are invited to the small, but colourful, event at:

Main Entrance, Civic Offices, Tuam Street,
at 4pm on March 20.

The conflagration, along with the cutting of a certain length of red tape, will mark a change in a City Council procedure which should be spectacular in a way that only the Mayor knows how.

Details of changes at the Civic Offices will be issued at the fiery show.
