Acting Government Statistician
The State Services Commissioner, Michael Wintringham, has appointed Dianne Macaskill as the acting Government Statistician and acting chief executive of Statistics New Zealand.
Ms Macaskill has been appointed to the acting role following the departure of Len Cook to become the National Statistician in the United Kingdom.
Ms Macaskill has been a Deputy Government Statistician since 1995. She has a BSc in mathematics and statistics from Victoria University of Wellington.
Mr Wintringham said he expected to make an announcement on a permanent appointment as Government Statistician in June.
