Nurses to assist SARS response at airports
Clarification regarding Nurses to assist SARS response at international airports
The Ministry of Health wishes to clarify the meaning of the word "screening", as used in the media release distributed this afternoon.
The screening that nurses at airports will be undertaking involves a preliminary assessment of passengers' wellbeing. This is done through observing passengers, looking for symptoms of SARS, asking questions and referring people for further assessment as necessary.
It does not involve a
medical examination nor the use of a test, as the word
screening sometimes does.
