CMJ Traffic Bulletin: 28 March Until 1 April

Stage 1 of Transit New Zealand's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project continues. There are significant closures affecting motorists over the coming week, these are outlined below:

Motorway closures:

- All northbound lanes on the Southern Motorway over the Khyber Pass Viaduct - CLOSED - 12am to 4am on Wednesday 31 March.

Detour: for SH1 northbound traffic - off at Khyber Pass off-ramp and on at Wellington Street on-ramp.

Ramp and link closures:

Sunday 28 March - CLOSED -- from 8am to 6am Monday 29 March:

- Khyber Pass off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

Sunday 28 March - CLOSED - overnight from 8pm to 6am the following morning:

- Symonds Street on-ramp (SH1 southbound)

- Khyber Pass on-ramp (SH1 southbound)

- Gillies Ave on-ramp (SH1 northbound)

- Northwestern Motorway to Southern Motorway link (SH16 to SH1 southbound)

Monday 29 March - CLOSED - overnight from 8pm to 6am the following morning:

- Symonds Street on-ramp (SH1 southbound)

- Khyber Pass on-ramp (SH1 southbound)

- Gillies Ave on-ramp (SH1 northbound)

- Khyber Pass off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

- Northwestern Motorway to port link (SH16 portbound)

- Wellesley Street off-ramp (SH16 Citybound)

- Northwest to Southern Motorway link (SH16 to SH1 southbound)

Tuesday 30 March - CLOSED - overnight from 8pm to 6am the following morning:

- Symonds Street on-ramp (SH1 southbound)

- Khyber Pass on-ramp (SH1 southbound)

- Gillies Ave on-ramp (SH1 northbound)

- Port off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

- Wellesley Street off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

- Northwestern to Southern Motorway link (SH16 to SH1 southbound)

Wednesday 31 March - CLOSED - overnight from 8pm to 6am the following morning:

- Symonds Street on-ramp (SH1 southbound)

- Khyber Pass on-ramp (SH1 southbound)

- Gillies Ave on-ramp (SH1 northbound)

- Khyber Pass off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

- Northwestern to Southern Motorway link (SH16 to SH1 southbound)

Thursday 1 April - CLOSED - overnight from 8pm to 6am the following morning:

- Symonds Street on-ramp (SH1 southbound)

- Khyber Pass on-ramp (SH1 southbound)

- Gillies Ave on-ramp (SH1 northbound)

- Khyber Pass off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

- Northwestern to Southern Motorway link (SH16 to SH1 southbound)

Local road closure:

Khyber Pass Road between motorway ramps - CLOSED - day and night from 6am Sunday 28 March to 6am Monday 29 March and overnight from 8pm to 6am the following morning from Monday 29 March to Thursday 1 April.

There will also be ongoing north and southbound lane closures at night on the Southern Motorway between the Gillies Ave on and off-ramps and the Symonds St over-bridge from Sunday through Thursday nights until 2005.

Please choose alternative on and off-ramps during these times. Motorists are advised that there could be delays.

The CMJ Project

Stage 1 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on and off-ramps and is scheduled for completion in 2005.
