Interview with wife of man who lost arm in crash

Interview with wife of Australian man who lost arm in crash

Therasa Koulouris is the wife of Kosta Koulouris, 35, sales manager, Sydney who is the man who lost his right arm in a crash at Huntly yesterday.

Mr Koulouis is in a critical condition in Waikato Hospital's intensive care unit. Mrs Koulouris would like the media to respect her privacy at this time and has provided the attached recording for media to use.

The couple married on Sunday September 2 and spent the first week of their honeymoon in Port Douglas, Cairns. They flew into New Zealand on Sunday night and spent Monday in Auckland seeing the sights. They left Auckland on Tuesday and planned to drive to Rotorua to stay the night. They had planned to spend a fortnight in New Zealand.

Kosta is a mad keen soccer supporter - he supports Arsenal - and also a Parramatta Eels fan. Mrs Koulouris does not remember anything about the crash and didn't realise what the car had hit. She describes what she saw. She would like to thank two people at the scene - Christine Holmwood and Allan Foster and all the emergency services. Christine, from Huntly, stayed with her the day and into the night and returned again today.

"It's amazing how God sends angels to help," said Mrs Koulouris.

She would also like to thank Waikato Hospital. Family are expected to arrive from Australia tomorrow.

Mr Koulouris is right handed.
