Agreement made with Spotless Services (NZ) Ltd

District Health Boards reach agreement with Spotless Services (NZ) Ltd

District Health Boards are pleased to reach an agreement with Spotless Services (NZ) Ltd which enables low paid workers to receive a wage increase promised last year. The agreement also averts planned strikes by the Service and Food Workers’ Union on 22 and 23 April.

DHB spokesman Craig Climo (CEO Waikato DHB) says talks this week have resulted in DHBs and Spotless agreeing to share the Spotless wage bill shortfall. This means that Spotless will pay the service and food workers their wage rise and the union will withdraw the strike action.

Mr Climo says DHBs and Spotless are working through the final financial details of their arrangement.

Mr Climo says neither the 21 DHBs nor Spotless wanted this problem to disadvantage the workers. DHBs are very pleased to have got to this point he says.
