Community assists with Portable Cardiac Ultrasound Machine for Kenepuru Hospital

The Wellington Hospitals & Health Foundation, through a major grant from the Southern Trust, has provided significant funding to enable the purchase of a much needed Portable Echo Machine for Capital & Coast District Health Board.

Chair of the Foundation, Bill Day said that the new machine is very portable and specially designed for taking images of hearts for patients of all ages, including children and babies.

“The Foundation saw a need in the cardio area that would assist C&C DHB Cardiac Unit and also patients in the Kenepuru Hospital area.”

The grant of $80k from the Southern Trust has made the purchase of this machine costing $138k possible said Bill Day.

The Wellington Hospitals & Health Foundation is a registered charitable trust which raises funds for projects to improve the comfort and welfare of patients and their families at Wellington and Kenepuru hospitals, and the Kapiti Health Centre.
