More NZMen Are Worrying About Their Weight

More New Zealand Men Are Worrying About Their Weight According To Life Pharmacy Survey

Weight management programmes have always been associated with women, but according to a national survey carried out at Life Pharmacies a growing number of men are signing up to weight management programmes.

The Tony Ferguson New Zealand Weight Management Survey, which was completed by specialist Life Pharmacy advisers across the country, found that 20% of new members are now male and that concerns about health is the driving factor, with men expressing concern over high blood pressure, increased risk of heart attacks, diabetes and other medical conditions associated with being overweight.

Sarah Buckley, Life Pharmacy Category Manager for Tony Ferguson New Zealand, says that the survey results, which covered over 8,500 active clients, highlight changing male attitudes towards weight loss:

‘The growing number of male participants in weight management programmes shows us that more men are thinking about their weight and are showing an interest in healthy living,’ says Sarah. ‘They are also realising the benefits of signing up to a professionally run scheme, rather than going it alone.

‘We have noticed that men respond especially well to plans such as Life Pharmacy’s Tony Ferguson Weight Management Programme. The low-carb meal plans and unlimited consultations with in-store advisers take the guesswork out of losing weight and fits around a busy life. We have also found that men relate better to programmes that have been founded by another man. They feel that the weight and lifestyle consultants really understand them and their varying problems and requirements.’

The Tony Ferguson weight management programme is offered by Life Pharmacy stores throughout New Zealand. The international success of the programme is credited to its healthy low-carb approach, coupled with the ongoing support and education that is provided by in-store Tony Ferguson advisors.
