The good oil on Krill

News release

The good oil on Krill

The health benefits of omega-3 have long been recognised and understood, but now there’s a superior product that packs a big punch. It comes in the form of a tiny shrimp-like creature called Krill.

Krill Oil is a high quality source of omega-3, rich in antioxidants, that provides a nutrient boost to your body’s cells.

Harvested from southern Antarctic waters, krill is free from detectable heavy metals, dioxins and pesticides. Strict harvesting regulations ensure that krill is both pure and sustainable, and as a “clean” omega-3 supplement there is no fishy reflux after ingestion.

Now available in New Zealand under the Clinicians brand, OmegaGen Neptune Krill Oil has antioxidant levels that are 47 times higher than standard fish oils.

Corene Humphreys, Medical Researcher and Nutrition Consultant for Natural Health Laboratories, the NZ marketer of Neptune Krill Oil Capsules, says its unique delivery system means nutrients are better absorbed by the body.

“Krill Oil’s nutrients are “packaged” differently to fish oil. Its little envelopes are more efficient carriers of omega-3 and antioxidants, which means more goodness is delivered straight into the body’s cells,” she says.

General Manager for Natural Health Laboratories, Graeme Hogan, says that research distinguishes Krill Oil from other fish oils on the market.

“Krill Oil is new to New Zealand and offers a high quality alternative to standard fish oil supplements. Scientific studies clearly demonstrate Krill Oil’s effectiveness in supporting body and heart health,” says Mr Hogan.

Studies show Neptune Krill Oil is highly effective in supporting healthy blood cholesterol levels.

Krill Oil makes an important contribution to many health management issues. The high ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 (15:1) helps explain its support for a wide range of biological processes including the heart via cholesterol and triglyceride balance, the brain via mental clarity and cognition, the hormones via the menstrual cycle and support for healthy joints and bones.1,3,4,5

Research shows that Krill Oil is significantly more effective than fish oil in supporting joint mobility and in support for the pre menstrual period.1,

Krill’s omega-3 potency also helps to bring balance to the Western diet.

“Historically, our diet contained an equal ratio of Omega-3 to Omega-6 – essential fatty acids that are both important to body health and development. The typical Western diet is currently skewed towards Omega-6; an imbalance that can affect wide-ranging body development and function. Neptune Krill Oil helps to right that imbalance,” explains Corene Humphreys.

“Cognition in the healthy adult brain continues to benefit from essential fatty acids support. The supplemental omega-3 found in Krill supports brain function in adults including a sense of well being, vigour, cognitive performance and mood,” she says.
