Free STI Checks for Otago Polytechnic Students
The
Otago Polytechnic Students’ Association in partnership
with Otago Polytechnic is offering all Otago Polytechnic
Students free STI checks for the month of April.
“This is part of a nationwide campaign run by the Men’s Education Network to increase awareness of Sexual Health in Tertiary Education.” OPSA Co-President Ryan Ward said today.
“Students can access this service at OP Student Health, for the whole month, and expect to pay nothing for the check up” Mr Ward continued.
Otago Polytechnic Academic Manager Sue Thompson thinks it is important to support this OPSA initiative.
“Two Occupational therapy students implemented a Chlamydia awareness project in conjunction with Student health last year. The student response to that campaign was excellent as we hope it will be to this OPSA initiative.”
"If you are concerned that you may have an STI, or haven't had a check up in more that 3 months, go along and get one done, there's no shame in doing it." Mr Ward added.
“STI’s like Chlamydia sometimes don’t have symptoms, you may not even know you have one, until you get tested”
