Hamilton Fertility Night hosted by Endometriosis Waikato

A Fertility Night hosted by Endometriosis Waikato will be held in Hamilton on Wednesday 25 November.

The evening is part of the information programme offered by Endometriosis Waikato, a community organisation supporting women with endometriosis.

Annette Evans, from Endometriosis Waikato said “We are delighted to host a meeting on a significant topic affecting so many women. A special invitation is extended those struggling with fertility problems as well as health professionals and others supporting women with fertility problems.”

Speakers are: Pauline Thomas on pre-conceptual nutrition, Lalage Sales from Natural Fertility NZ on “Sex makes babies…does it?” and staff from Fertility Associates speaking on pre-conceptual care, the cost of fertility treatments and criteria for Government Funding.

Endometriosis is very common, affecting an estimated 1-in-5 women and teenage girls. As well as being a leading cause of fertility problems, it can dramatically impair quality of life.

The most common symptom of endometriosis is painful periods, characterised by taking pain relief, bed rest and time off work or studies.  Women of all ages need to recognise that painful periods are not normal and seek medical help, asking their GP for a referral to a gynaecologist specialising in endometriosis.

Women and teen girls facing endometriosis can turn to Endometriosis Waikato for credible information, education and community support

“Endometriosis Waikato can demystify endometriosis to enable women to make informed decisions about treatment options. It is important that women and their families aren’t left facing a significant health problem in isolation” said Annette.

A recent awareness initiative, presentations titled “EndoWhat?! – What every woman should know about endometriosis” are available to community organisations and workplaces.

“Endometriosis Waikato extends a huge thank you to our guest speakers for giving up their time and sharing their expertise. Thanks also to CCS Disability Action for providing the venue.”

The public meeting will be held at CCS Disability Action, Claudelands Road, Hamilton, on Wednesday 25 November from 7:30pm. A gold coin donation is appreciated.
