National Stroke Awareness Week

National Stroke Awareness Week

13-19 September 2010 is National Stroke Awareness Week, a week devoted to increasing awareness about stroke and its early warning signs.

When dealing with a stroke, time is of the essence; if you notice that your friend or loved ones face or mouth has drooped, if they can’t lift both arms and if their speech is slurred, it is imperative to call for assistance immediately .

Tunstall Healthcare, the world’s leading provider of telehealthcare offers a personal alarm that allows people in need to make quick and easy contact with Tunstall’s 24 hour response centre that will organise immediate assistance.

If an emergency call is activated, Tunstall’s response centre operator will speak to the caller to find out the problem and make the necessary assistance arrangements, such as an ambulance to be called, after hours GP organised or family member, friend or neighbour to be contacted.

Tunstall’s response centre operator will stay online with the caller until assistance has arrived, supporting them to stay calm and confident that help is on the way.

A call for assistance is quick and easy, requiring the caller to simply press a button on a pendant that they keep with them at all times.

Tunstall’s response centre can be used to call assistance for anyone in the home, including visiting friends and family.

Additionally, anyone else in the home can use the pendent and response centre to organise assistance for the resident.

When wearing the radio trigger pendant, the wearer can activate an alarm call for help from anywhere in the house; even in the garden.

Additional alarm activation points can be installed in the home for times when the resident may not have their pendant with them, such as when in the bathroom, shower and toilet, ensuring the resident can always quickly alert the response centre that they need help.

With time being of the essence when experiencing a stroke, Tunstall provides the peace of mind that help is always available if and when you need it.

Werewolf: Nature’s Boy - On Terence Malik

It’s easy to think of Malick films coming in pairs. In the 1970s: Badlands and Days of Heaven. Then he studied film-making and got Badlands out just before he was 30. More>>

Werewolf: Classics - Tom’s Midnight Garden (1958)

For anyone trying to write about it, Tom’s Midnight Garden poses a significant problem. The twist ending will be well known to anyone who has read the book, but first time readers would justifiably want to kill anyone who spoils the surprise, which provides one of the most satisfying and moving resolutions in children’s fiction.
