Donations Boost For Bowel Cancer Awareness

Donations Boost For Bowel Cancer Awareness

June 6 – 12 this year is New Zealand’s first official Bowel Cancer Awareness Week and Beat Bowel Cancer Aotearoa is thrilled to announce the public will now be able to show their support by donating at a number of local pharmacies for the month of June.

“Amcal, Care Chemist, Life, Radius and Unichem pharmacies are proud to support Beat Bowel Cancer Aotearoa,” says Alison Van Wyk of Pharmacybrands Ltd. “Bowel cancer kills more than 1200 New Zealanders annually and the organisation is doing much-needed work to promote bowel cancer awareness and reduce that statistic.

In support of Bowel Cancer Awareness, donations can be made together with any in-store purchase at any of the above mentioned pharmacies throughout the month of June. “

The support is a great boost for Beat Bowel Cancer Aotearoa. “We are very grateful that these pharmacies nationwide will be showing their support for our cause,” Says BBCA Acting Chair, Alison Ellison. “Many New Zealanders are dying needlessly from bowel cancer. By raising awareness it’s possible we can greatly reduce the high death rate in NZ by encouraging people affected by bowel cancer to act on their symptoms to catch the disease early. Bowel cancer awareness will need more supporters going forward and we hope the generosity of the customers who donate at participating pharmacies throughout June, together with those who make donations through our website, will give us the much needed funds to fight this disease. Bowel cancer is detectable, treatable and beatable. Thank you everyone for your donations. Your money will be saving lives by raising awareness of bowel cancer. “
