Depression Mood Monitor App Targets Growing Need

Depression Mood Monitor App Targets Growing Need.

Following on from the popularity of the recently released Bipolar Mood Monitor App on iTunes, Paper Kite Ltd has developed an App for monitoring more general depressive disorders called Depression Mood Monitor. As with Bipolar Mood Monitor, this was developed with advice from mental health professionals.

Health providers have already reported that Bipolar Mood Monitor has been a valuable tool in helping to track and manage patients' mood swings and as a consequence Depression Mood Monitor was developed to complement and enhance this successful application.

Depression Mood Monitor helps users track their mood changes as they happen and records them in an easy-to-read chart format. This App also includes comment and alert functions and one-step email so charts and comments can be sent to nominated email addresses.

The user interface incorporates a graphic display which is simple and intuitive. Users can make entries with three easy steps in a matter of seconds and review details at any stage.

Depression Mood Monitor also has a free wall chart in PDF format ready to email and print. This was designed as a visual aid for health providers who may not have a suitable mobile device, but still wish to use the interface as a reference when seeing patients.

Currently anyone suffering from depressive disorders usually visits their doctor on a weekly or monthly basis. This can create problems when patients are unable to accurately describe how they fared since their last appointment.
Busy doctors usually have less than 10 minutes on average to spend with a patient, with up to a third of their patients visiting due to mood disorders. Assessing how a patient was actually doing on a day-to-day basis becomes difficult in this situation.

Depression Mood Monitor allows accurate information to be emailed to a doctor (or the mobile device can be taken to an appointment for the doctor to access directly), graphically illustrating the mood status of the patient over specific time frames with accompanying comments.
Depression Mood Monitor can be purchased at the iTunes App Store and is compatible with iPhone, iPad and i|Pod Touch.
