Entries closed and counted for best of health awards

The 2012 Waikato District Health Board (DHB) Best of Health awards promise to unveil some hidden successes in the Waikato public health sector.

Entries are now closed and there are 36 project submissions from throughout the Waikato that are currently being considered by quality committees for endorsement prior to judging.

While details of the project submissions are not due for release until the awards ceremony in May, the categories include innovation, collaboration, patient outcome and process improvement.

Waikato DHB, Midlands Health Network, Toiora PHO, Hauraki PHO, North Waikato PHO and Midlands Pharmacy Group all have submissions into the awards.

“We are working in partnership with Wintec, who have kindly supplied their wonderful event venue The Atrium for the ceremony on 10 May,” said Best of Health Committee chair and Waikato DHB Quality and Risk System Support - Susan Stretton.

“The partnership will see an award being presented for the Wintec Media Arts’ students work on the recently released The Village on the Hill: Celebrating 125 Years of Waikato Hospital coffee table book.”

Cash prizes of $1500 per category and an overall additional $3000 are up for grabs, which must be used for professional development / education within a year of the awards presentation.

The Waikato DHB Best of Health Awards have been running since 2003, with 126 projects entered before the 2012 event.
