Ambulance to be blessed
A second ambulance bought by one of New Zealand’s biggest Lotto winning families is being blessed before taking to the streets in the Wairarapa this week.
Wellington Free Ambulance, which now operates the free ambulance service in the Wairarapa, says the new ambulance bought by the Shamrock Trust has been named the Leprechaun. It has two leprechauns painted on the back.
“This ambulance is one of the most up to date in New Zealand. It has been bought by the Trusts set up by a Wairarapa family after their lotto win in 2009. The first ambulance the trust bought for the area is called the Shamrock and has two shamrocks painted on the back,” says Wellington Free Ambulance spokesman David Baker.
“This new ambulance has been kindly donated by Fiona Wilton and her mum and will have Leprechauns on the back.”
“We are extremely grateful to the family for their generous help. Wellington Free Ambulance is the only ambulance service in the country that does not charge its patients.”
Wellington Free Ambulance has three emergency vehicles operating in the Wairarapa and is currently calling for new volunteer paramedics to help in the area.
