First New Zealand Population Health Congress

First New Zealand Population Health Congress

Three influential New Zealand health organisations are working together to organise the first New Zealand Population Health Congress to be held in Auckland next year.

The New Zealand College of Public Health Medicine, the Public Health Association of New Zealand and the Health Promotion Forum of New Zealand say the Congress will be an opportunity to influence the future direction of population health in New Zealand.

Australia held its first Population Health Congress in 2008 and another in 2014. The success of those events inspired the three New Zealand public health organisations to host a similar Congress here.

The Australasian Epidemiological Association, although not a formal partner to the Congress, is closely involved and will hold its annual conference in New Zealand at the same venue immediately afterwards. It is hoped that members from all organisations will attend both meetings.

The NZ Population Health Congress is being held at the Aotea Centre in Auckland from the 6th to the 8th of October 2014 and the Australasian Epidemiological Association will be at the same venue on the 9th and 10th of October.

The Congress theme will be ‘Connecting Communities, Science and Policy’.
